Further Information on Custom Made

Our journey as a company towards sustainability is guided by the work we have done with our custom made pieces. The goal is to produce high quality jewellery and ceramics by using natural, recycled and upcycled raw materials, is so doing, lengthening the lifespan of the products and offering an alternative method of production to the material waste, pollution and use of hazardous chemical substances involved in mass and batch manufacture. Every custom made piece is made completely from scratch in our workshops, in a process that has been examined and adjusted with minimal eco-system impact in mind.

Please note the following when ordering a custom made piece:

Production time can take 8-10 weeks

Custom made pieces are final sale

Each piece is supported by 10 years of care

Details

As striking as it is whimiscal, this piece is in contrast to Annotated’s usual restrained design. Rooted in feeling, intuition and colour, it is made by hand using the famed Champlevé method of emameling. The lettering inscribes the University name or a personalised message and two lines further encircle the ring, gentley framing the inscription. The choice of enamel can be bold or sleek using colour and form to create a bright, celebratory piece. The ring’s width is 4mm.

Personalisation & Options

The perfect graduation ring in 3 steps:

01 Two Deep Engravings

The outside engraving is a celebration and a note of achievement, the inside belongs to the wearer and can be engraved with a date, a name or a short message.

An example outside engraving:

e.g. CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS 2018 MA or “MMXVII”

For the inside, a possible engraving could be more personal:

“14/06/18 Well Done, Love Grannie & Grandpa”

We kindly ask you to consider that our goldsmiths will reproduce your engraving exactly as you enter when you personalise the ring. Please double check what you have typed and enter the text in all capitals or mixed case as you prefer. It is recommended that all capitals are used on the outside of this ring because the band is relatively thin.

02 Colour and Gold Carat

The gold alloys used in this design have been carefully smelted to create a spectrum of colour between 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold that ranges from the whitest shade of gold, through to a fine rose, via a rich modern yellow. The band ring is available in the following precious metals:

9ct white gold

14ct white gold

18ct white gold

9ct yellow gold

14ct yellow gold

18ct yellow gold

9ct rose gold

Conscious & Guarantee

Sustainability

Our Graduation Ring collection is designed to offer sustainable alternatives to everyday products & gifts. We work towards this in four ways:

•    We use only recycled or reclaimed precious metals in our custom rings.

•    We use fully traceable natural gemstones and encourage customers who are concerned about the environmental impact of over-mining to choose laboratory-grown synthetic gemstones.

•    Central to us reducing our environmental impact is making the rings on a custom made basis. Working in this way means we don’t make dead or unnecessary stock that has to reprocessed, reducing the energy we use and the waste we create manufacturing.

•    Simultaneously to our own manufacture we are also developing two small agricultural operations to off-set the industrial process and water-waste involved both in our own workshops and those of our suppliers. The first of these involves growing raspberries on a hillside in Northern England, to help counter the impact of all our manufacturing in London; the second, an olive grove in southern Greece, that contributes to offsetting the work of our European production partners.

Guarantee

Every ring in the collection is underpinned by a ten year guarantee that ensure the piece is long lasting and gains character as it ages. We will repair any time that is damaged due to a product manufacturing issue as well as any damages caused by normal wear and tear, free of charge for ten years.

There is a £18 charge to cover shipping and handling both ways. If your jewellery needs repair, please let us know via our Showroom or via our Support team and we will provide you with a shipping label.

For more details read about our policy in our FAQs or send us an email.

The Story of Annotated’s Education Collaboration

Originally created by three friends at the University of Oxford looking for a different, but elegant way to celebrate and cherish their undergraduate memories,

This project goes back to the beginnings of the small design studio that preceded our company.

Since those earliest days, Annotated has stood for the idea that, by making things well, we could imbue our products with a sense of soul. You can feel it the moment you touch one of our Signet rings.

And being the children of university lecturers and teachers it was natural for us to combine this with the notion of celebrating education and studying for its own sake.

Over the years, the Annotated graduation ring has become our definition of one-of-a-kind and bespoke: completely made-to-order in collaboration with its owner and crafted by hand from precious metals.

Whether a graduand is someone who typically is interested in fine jewellery or not.

Please note, custom-made items cannot be returned but can be cancelled within seven days of order confirmation when production is still at an early stage.
