Engraving
How many characters can I have engraved?
On most ring designs, we offer a free inscription of up to 20 characters (including spaces) on the inside of your ring, allowing you to include a personal message or dedication. Your inscription can include letters, numbers and most punctuation. Occasionally, on smaller ring sizes, the full 20 characters cannot be accommodated. If this is the case, we will contact you to discuss a shorter alternative before beginning to make your ring.
I need an engraving that is longer than the character limit. Is it possible?
In some cases, we may be able to fit more than 20 characters on your ring. If you would like to enquire about this possibility, please email info@annotatedstudios.com.
Are special symbols or characters permitted in an engraving?
For special symbols and characters, we use a specialist engraving machine and so this incurs an extra charge of £25.
May I return the engraved item?
Regrettably, all our made to order items are non-refundable.
Can I personalise my ring in any other ways?
All our rings are individually made to order and so you can personalise every aspect of your ring. After selecting one of our unique designs, you can also choose your metal, stone and finish and customise the side panels.
Can you engrave a piece of jewellery that I already own?
We may be able to engrave an existing piece of jewellery. Please contact our customer service team at info@annotatedstudios.com.
Can I see a sample of an engraved ring before I order?
We regularly attend graduation ceremonies, allowing you to try on samples and order your ring in person. Please contact us to check if we are attending your graduation ceremony. You can also make an appointment to view ring samples at our studio in London. Please contact us at info@annotatedstudios.com to make an appointment and for further information.

The Story of Annotated’s Education Collaboration
Originally created by three friends at the University of Oxford looking for a different, but elegant way to celebrate and cherish their undergraduate memories,
This project goes back to the beginnings of the small design studio that preceded our company.
Since those earliest days, Annotated has stood for the idea that, by making things well, we could imbue our products with a sense of soul. You can feel it the moment you touch one of our Signet rings.
And being the children of university lecturers and teachers it was natural for us to combine this with the notion of celebrating education and studying for its own sake.
Over the years, the Annotated graduation ring has become our definition of one-of-a-kind and bespoke: completely made-to-order in collaboration with its owner and crafted by hand from precious metals.
Whether a graduand is someone who typically is interested in fine jewellery or not.
Please note, custom-made items cannot be returned but can be cancelled within seven days of order confirmation when production is still at an early stage.
