The Custom Process
A commitment to crafting a piece of jewellery that will last a lifetime or more is the heartbeat of this project.
Besides clean and modern designs, we believe that a piece of jewellery should be a marker of time, that each one we make should capture and celebrate a memory or tie itself to a moment in a person's life.
The Custom Process offers customers the freedom to create their own unique Annotated ring, specific to their design. Expert advice and guidance is on hand from our Customer Care team, ensuring each detail is realised to the customer's specification.
The making process begins with ensuring the perfect fit.
A measurement of the client’s finger is taken either using an Annotated ring sizer at home or in the showroom. Using this measurement, the wax is first made in a mould and then revised by hand to balance the aesthetic with the size, forming the shape of the ring. A unique wax is individually crafted for every order, helping maintain the unique shape and form over a lifetime of wear.
Once every detail has been considered, the artisans in our workshop being the metamorphic process of turning the reclaimed precious metal alloy into the ring using the ancient lost wax casting method.
With casting complete, the metal is slowly cleaned and the shape re-sculpted by hand using traditional handtools so there are no negative trade-offs for quality or style. Such techniques often reveal an elemental quality which can only be harnessed by the virtuosity and skill of a seasoned artisan. There is a history of method, ingrained into the ring – an intangible that belongs only to the pieces the pass through our workshops.
Once finished, the pieces are individually hallmarked at the Goldsmith’s Assay Office in London to confirm the purity of the precious metal used. They are then presented in a signature box.
