Details

Sumptuous coloured gems take the spotlight in the Imperial collection. This ring is both beautifully sculptured and unconventional, elegantly drawing out the colour and life of the gemstone at its centre.

Made from precious metals and hand-finished using age-old techniques, the Medium Imperial has a 16.5mm face. It can be set with either a synthetic stone or a natural gemstone. This is the gold version of the ring and it is available in 9ct, 14ct and 18ct.

Size & Fit

Sizing is unisex. The Classic, which is 13mm fits our friend Margot who has a finger size of H1/2 (US 4), but who reckons the Medium, with its 16.5mm face looks too big on her hand. While Victor, who has the hands of a pianist but can’t play and a finger size of P (US 7.5), fits both but favours the Medium because only the biggest black onyx possible will do.

 Face size approximately 16.5mm x 14mm

Clean, unadorned shape and unique inner fit.

 Solid, crafted from gold

Hand-made so each piece will have a unique personality

 Presented in distinctive packaging

This piece is custom-made from gold in about 8 weeks

Personalisation & Options

The perfect graduation ring in 6 steps:

1. Metal

Our rings can be crafted in sterling silver and 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold.

2. Texture

The outside texture of this ring can be personalised. Choose between the Max’s Mirror finish and the Baltimore Brush finish. The first is a classic mirror finish that creates a bright, calm impression; the second a hand applied brush that forges a unique character.

3. Finish

The face and side panels of your ring can be customised.  Choose between the Antique finish and the Natural finish.

The Antique finish is a dark grey coating created by a process of black rhodium plating, used to add more definition to some of the intricacies of the ring's design. The Natural finish maintains the organic colour of the metal, without any additional platings.  The Enamel finish is similar to the effect of the Antique finish but with a thicker, glossier look.

4. Side Panels

Your year and degree initials can be featured on the side of your ring.

5.  Stone

Forming the centrepiece of the Imperial ring, we offer an array of gemstones to choose from, both natural and synthetic. Below are the Synthetic Stone options.

To view natural stone options click here

6. Inside Inscription

Whether the ring is a gift or to mark your own achievement inscribe it on the inside with a hidden inscription of up to 20 characters (ring sizes 4 and above), giving it one last distinct personal character.

For finger sizes smaller than H½ (US 4) a specialist engraving will be required which costs £25 for up to 10 characters. Please email us with your engraving.

We can also engrave with special characters (e.g. Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Russian, Arabic) or symbols (e.g. ♡, !, #, Δ, %, $) on any finger size for £25. To request a special engraving please email us with your engraving.

Conscious & Guarantee

Sustainability

Our Graduation Ring collection is designed to offer sustainable alternatives to everyday products & gifts. We work towards this in four ways:

•    We use only recycled or reclaimed precious metals in our custom rings.

•    We use fully traceable natural gemstones and encourage customers who are concerned about the environmental impact of over-mining to choose laboratory-grown synthetic gemstones.

•    Central to us reducing our environmental impact is making the rings on a custom made basis. Working in this way means we don’t make dead or unnecessary stock that has to reprocessed, reducing the energy we use and the waste we create manufacturing.

•    Simultaneously to our own manufacture we are also developing two small agricultural operations to off-set the industrial process and water-waste involved both in our own workshops and those of our suppliers. The first of these involves growing raspberries on a hillside in Northern England, to help counter the impact of all our manufacturing in London; the second, an olive grove in southern Greece, that contributes to offsetting the work of our European production partners.

Guarantee

Every ring in the collection is underpinned by a ten year guarantee that ensure the piece is long lasting and gains character as it ages. We will repair any time that is damaged due to a product manufacturing issue as well as any damages caused by normal wear and tear, free of charge for ten years.

There is a £18 charge to cover shipping and handling both ways. If your jewellery needs repair, please let us know via our Showroom or via our Support team and we will provide you with a shipping label.

For more details read about our policy in our FAQs or send us an email.

The Story of Annotated’s Education Collaboration

Originally created by three friends at the University of Oxford looking for a different, but elegant way to celebrate and cherish their undergraduate memories,

This project goes back to the beginnings of the small design studio that preceded our company.

Since those earliest days, Annotated has stood for the idea that, by making things well, we could imbue our products with a sense of soul. You can feel it the moment you touch one of our Signet rings.

And being the children of university lecturers and teachers it was natural for us to combine this with the notion of celebrating education and studying for its own sake.

Over the years, the Annotated graduation ring has become our definition of one-of-a-kind and bespoke: completely made-to-order in collaboration with its owner and crafted by hand from precious metals.

Whether a graduand is someone who typically is interested in fine jewellery or not.

Please note, custom-made items cannot be returned but can be cancelled within seven days of order confirmation when production is still at an early stage.
